What to do in Case of Emergency in Antarctica

In America, we all know that you dial 911 in case of an emergency. What do you do in other countries? Many times if you dial 911 you'll probably be fine and you'll be rerouted to the local emergency system. (Sometimes you are not so you should probably check online before you visit a foreign country).

But what about Antarctica?

Your 911 call only calls the nearest island/country that has a police and emergency system. In case of no response, try all emergency numbers that exist such as 112 and 999 until someone answers. There is no dispatch center in Antarctica.

Today you learned. Do not have an emergency in Antarctica.

Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow

Reston Virginia was founded as one of the first planned communities. Our founder had the idea of turning this plot of land into an experimental future.

Well in case you had not figured that out yet, it’s what EPCOT is an abbreviation for!

Here was Walt’s original plan:

"Planned environment demonstrating to the world what American communities can accomplish through proper control of planning and design."

Basically what I’m saying is, Walt’s vision didn’t die. I’m living in it.

Diffusion in a Real Life Application

I was eating spaghetti squash and I poured too much chili powder in my bowl.

I was like. I’ll just put my squash back in the pot and spread out all the chili powder and then take my bowl again and then it'll be fine.

And then I was like. ohhhhhhhh. Thanks, biology. I now understand diffusion.

If a Cloud Fell onto Earth...

There would be complete and total destruction.

Comment below to sign this petition to keep the clouds in the sky.

edit: fog is not the same thing
edit 2: if you cannot read the pic, the Snap Fact is "An average cumulus cloud weighs more than 70 adult T-Rex".

Thoughts From the Next Generation...

Overheard this gem from a youngin today at the Natural History Museum...

“This is like an entire Instagram page in one!!!”

Interesting to know that Instagram is synonymous with museums nowadays. I guess you can learn a lot from both?

The Hufflepuff Common Room

According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly.

Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground.

The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.
Yellow, black. Yellow, black.
Yellow, black. Yellow, black.

How do they fly?

You know those long Japanese dragons, like in Spirited Away, how do they fly? They have no wings!

Do they just snake through the air?

Before There Were Phones...

Humans were like nature’s apps.

Makes you question life as we know it.
Maybe someday we will completely forget about other humans.

Angiosperms

Are angiosperms the reason that the dinosaurs are extinct??

I mean, think about it.

The first flowering plants came around at the end of the Cretaceous period... which was right around the time of the end of the dinosaurs.

I mean, the meteor is a v good theory, but what if angiosperms were really the cause. What if all the dinosaurs were just allergic to flowers?

The Itsy Bitsy Spider

The song, The Itsy Bitsy Spider, is actually just an infinity loop.

Try singing it back to back. The spider is just going up the water spout, falling down, and then going back up again. Will he ever make it all the way up?

The world may never know.... poor little guy.

What is Apoptosis?

Apoptosis is probably the key to spontaneous human combustion.

Essentially, it is when your cells are programmed to go into self-destruction if they do not pass the checkpoints during the cell cycle.

What if all your cells were sent into apoptosis at the same time??

Just think about that for a sec.
