What if rain all fell in one quick sheet?

Imagine walking down the street and the weather report had told you it was going to rain today. Instead of being able to just open up an umbrella, you run for safety as soon as you see it coming. Usually, several inches of rain would fall over a period of time. Imagine if all of the rain that was going to fall all fell at once. If it was a hurricane that would have left 8 inches of rain, all 8 inches fall in one singular sheet.
