Cats

Did you know that cats domesticated themselves? How smart is that? Free unlimited care and food. How could you say no? DNA analysis show that cats lived alongside humans long before they lived under their care (Nat Geo).

It is all part of their plan to take over the world. First, the get close to us. Then, they learn to control us.

You Are Above Average

If you are reading this and have two arms, you are above average.
Think about it. Anyone that only has 1 or no arms is bringing down the average.

Congrats. You have accomplished something today.

Ostriches Cannot Fly

Are ostriches upset that they cannot fly?

When you think about birds, they are very closely associated with flying. A quick sentence verification task or a semantic hierarchy can show you just how quickly your mind associated the word "bird" with "fly".

We all know that ostriches are a bird but they, unfortunately, are one of the few that cannot fly. With their oversized bodies and long lanky legs, their little wings are not capable of lifting them off of the ground.

They probably look around at all of the other birds and think "why can't I do that?".

What if rain all fell in one quick sheet?

Imagine walking down the street and the weather report had told you it was going to rain today. Instead of being able to just open up an umbrella, you run for safety as soon as you see it coming. Usually, several inches of rain would fall over a period of time. Imagine if all of the rain that was going to fall all fell at once. If it was a hurricane that would have left 8 inches of rain, all 8 inches fall in one singular sheet.

You're just walking down the street and you get hit in the head by 8 inches of rain.

The Hippocampus

Did you know, the hippocampus is the scientific name for a seahorse. It is also a part of your brain! It is actually named the hippocampus because it happens to look surprisingly similar.

The hippocampus is important for the consolidation of memories. I hope your hippocampus allows you to remember this fact.

Why is cream soda considered Jewish?

All Jews know that Dr. Brown cream soda is always in the house during the holidays. But why?

Today I will solve that mystery for you. Coca-Cola was not Kosher until 1937. Until that date, all the Jews just drank Dr. Brown! It was even sold door to door in Jewish neighborhoods in New York.

Today you learned.

Octopi Cannot Wear Pants

Imagine a world where octopi evolved to walk among us. They are able to breathe air, walk around on the ground, and no longer need water to survive. Now, I think that would be pretty cool except for one major problem that I have identified.

Do you know where an octopi's buttock is? On their head. Therefore, there is no way they would be able to wear pants! While it would be cool to walk outside and just see an octopus walking around in the wild, but they would never be able to truly assimilate into society. They would be the outcasts that cannot wear pants.

Fun Fact About the Brain

The brain is made up of white and grey matter. The white matter is populations of cell bodies, whereas the gray matter is myelinated axons.

I bet you didn't notice but I spelled gre/ay differently both times I used it. Fun fact, they're both accepted in English. It really does not matter which one you use.

The Only Good Thing About the Cold

While I normally prefer warmer weather, I do not like mosquitoes. They really like to drain humans of blood during these warm months.

Actually, if you had 1,200,000 mosquito bites, they could literally drain you of your blood (based off of the average amount of blood in a human body).

Now, are you glad there’s snow?

A Whale of a Paradox

What would happen if Pinocchio said, "my nose will grow"?

If he says it, and his nose grows, he would NOT have been lying.
BUT
If he says it, and his nose does NOT grow, he would be lying, and therefore his nose should be growing.
BUT
If it does grow, then he would not have been lying and therefore his nose SHOULD grow.

Wait, what. My head hurts.
